Many of my clients curiously ask how I came to be a massage therapist, so I thought this might be a good introduction…

Several years ago I had the wonderful opportunity to visit South Africa. I promised my family that while abroad I would find my calling. After a month it was almost time to return home and I was yet to find my passion. On my last day in South Africa, I was walking on the beach with my friend’s mother when she said, “I think you would make a good massage therapist”. At that moment I just knew exactl where I wanted to go with my life. It all made sense because I love people and helping people was even better.
When I returned to the states I immediately signed up for classes at the Virginia School of Massage in Blacksburg, VA. My training was 600 hours, which took approximately one year. It was a great course and my instructors were outstanding.
I graduated from VSOM in 1999, shortly after I married my wonderful husband and moved to Johnson City, TN. There, Hair and Body Works Salon and Day Spa employed me. I gained knowledge and performed many different spa treatments using Aveda essential oils and products. Employment there gave me the valuable experience that is so important when first starting out.
After a few years my husband and I moved back to Wytheville to start a family, I then massaged only family and friends in order to focus on raising my eldest son. After two years I went to work with Anders Evolution Salon. There, I gained even more experience to help further me in my profession. I met many wonderful people and made many friends while working at Anders.
After three years with Anders I felt the need to take my career to the next level by starting my own practice. I am excited about this new venture and I hope that being in a neutral location, out of the “beauty scene” will help make me more accessible to prospective clients.
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with many different people and their variety of health issues. Issues such as Fibromyalgia, Multiple sclerosis, Arthritis, Muscular dystrophy, chronic pain sufferers, Depression, Pregnancy, High blood pressure, Radiation and Chemotherapy patients and others. Working with people and their many different health concerns has given me the confidence needed to perform the best and safest massage possible
